There is simply not enough seed in eastern and southern Africa. In this brief, a seed sector survey carried out in 2007 in sub-Saharan Africa explores the barriers to seed production as well as possible strategies in overcoming them and increasing regional seed company productivity. A concise view of the current seed production constraints is given, along with the envisaged solutions to productivity constraints.
